As Miami-Dade County Public Schools prepares to embark on its new journey regarding the state’s full implementation of Florida Standards, it is our pleasure to welcome you to Synergy, a Summer Professional Development Institute. Synergy focuses on a comprehensive approach for school sites to develop action plans as they prepare to address Florida Standards.  Over a three-day period, participants will be exposed to interactive professional development surrounding three areas of focus: strategic planning; maximizing professional learning; and content-specific instructional strategies.

Strategic Planning - Schools will explore the levels in which they strategically plan to address Florida Standards. They will simultaneously identify what processes and procedures are in place to monitor the plan and define the opportunities for ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of the plan.

Maximizing Professional Learning - Participants will explore their current practices as they relate to building teacher capacity.  Each school will define the time, processes, resources, and structures needed and determine how to fully maximize those resources to support teachers as they
implement Florida Standards.  

Content-Specific Instructional Strategies - Lastly, participants will be exposed to research-based, high-yield, content-specific instructional strategies that when
implemented with fidelity address the Florida Standards.  

Team Time- Each day the school site leadership teams will have the opportunity to apply the content discussed during the day’s session and directly begin to prepare the action steps and/or shifts that need to take place at their school site to bring about sustainable change.  It is our expectation that at the conclusion of the seminar, leadership teams will leave energized and excited about the plans they have developed to  address Florida Standards.
